George Optical and TV5 in Cebu

Cebu's warmest greetings and gracious hearts welcomed two of the country's promising companies in the grand station launch of TV5 Cebu last June 25.

Coincided with the different program launch and showcase held by the network's home-grown personalities and talents, TV5 partnered with the leading premier eye and vision health provider, George Optical , in a medical mission extending assistance to the residents of Brgy. Sambag Uno, Cebu City and nearby communities.

The medical mission was spearheaded by TV5's public service oriented show, Alagang Kapatid, which airs every Saturday 6AM and Sunday 7AM on Channel 21 and hosted by the veteran newscaster Ms. Cheryl Cosim.

More than 150 patients, most of whom were senior citizens, were given complete eye examination and free reading glasses by the trusted optometrists of the said optical chain. The people were also given free lecture on basic eye care and vision impairment prevention, which has become one of the salient diseases in the country today.

The highlight of the medical mission was the assistance given to the 7-year old patient, Arianne Bacus. The patient has a special case of hyperopic astigmatism on both eyes which was diagnosed after undergoing complete eye examination by the optometrist of George Optical.

According to optometrist's findings, this vision impairment leads patients to focus hard on short distances and if not properly diagnosed and treated will lead to strabismus or crossed eyes syndrome. The specialist also suggests to the patient to periodically have her eyes checked by a credible eye expert who will monitor her case on a periodic basis.
